Shinn Asuka Motivational Poster by slyboyseth Shinn Asuka Motivational Poster by slyboyseth
Well, he's still a more interesting character than Destiny's rendition of the old SEED cast. Yeesh, Kira, you became a stiff...

Gundam SEED Destiny belongs to Sunrise and... (sigh) Mitsuo Fukuda & Chiaki Morosawa. Gundam itself still belongs to Sunrise (again) and Yoshiyuki Tomino.

I don't care if she's ill, just let someone else write the Destiny movie. And direct it too.

Also, Kira's a spotlight stealer in this anime. It had to be said.

Ugh....I HATE SHINN...The most unlikable character of any Gundam series I've ever seen. Granted, Kira's not one of my favorites either (not by ANY stretch of the imagination), but Shinn is just the most irritating, self-righteous psychopathic asshole of all time. I could not believe half the crap he got away with, though considering who the master villain was in the series it does explain how this moron got away with threatening the leader of a nation & aiding an enemy soldier just because he had the hots for her (dude even attacked a nurse). He was just way too emo.

That's not the comparison.

I blame Shinn's less-than stellar (sic) turn in GSD because Fukuda made him into a villain-in-training instead of a conflicted hero. And then sandbagged him in the final fight.

This is why Banpresto was better at writing the story than Fukuda's wife.

I don't blame her; she was critically ill, and not on her game like the original SEED. I do blame Fukuda for being a whiny dependent douche and leaning on her, instead of just hiring a couple of other writers to get the completed scripts done on time. (You know, like Banpresto did for their version.) By episode 23 the story was all over the place, and the clipshow flashbacks acting as filler for actual story were an ominous sign of future non-developments. I kept hoping it would turn around, but it didn't, and that's all on the director. Some particularly interesting nasty gossip from the Japanese Net during that time indicated that Bandai objected to Fukuda making the highly profitable Kira and Lacus (the #1 couple in all of Gundam) antagonists instead of supporting heroes, at the least. So his original plotlines got canned while he & the staff scrambled to assemble a story.

Get someone from Banpresto.  THEY made Shinn Asuka the Protagonist of Destiny, made Cagalli Bad@ss, and convinced mooks that the Destiny plan was stupid.

In all honesty, when Bandai approves of the fix fic in the Super Robot Wars games AND Kenichi Suzumura likes THEIR version of Shinn, THEY should be given top billing for the SEED Destiny movie.
